Meet Vincent & Nooma
The husband and wife team behind Inviciti, a small business they started in 2013 on the now well-known Etsy marketplace. All of Inviciti’s pewter designs are cast by Vincent and designed by both Nooma and Vincent while the ceramic pieces are made by Nooma. Sharing a similar aesthetic, they each carve their own path with regards to style.
“Sometimes our styles seem to converge as we pick up on each other’s vibe. At times our work looks similar and other times like night and day! We hope it makes for an interesting array of designs. In the product descriptions you can find out which one of us made a particular design. If you’ve been following our work for a while, maybe you can even guess who made what. It keeps things fun and also serves as a record for us since there have been times when a piece designed many years ago looks like it could’ve been made by either of us and we have a hard time remembering which of us actually made it!”
Nooma has a background in graphic design but before all that, she started off making jewelry (almost 30 years ago) beginning with ceramics classes where she learned the basics of the wheel, fell in love with clay, and then began making ceramic beads to use in her own jewelry designs. Some years later she took a one-on-one workshop with a master metalsmith in Ocala Florida and made sterling silver jewerly for the next 5 years which she sold in her first two Etsy shops back when Etsy first came onto the scene.
While Nooma was working at an Orlando, FL company as a graphic artist and still making jewelry on the side, Vincent began working at the same company doing internet marketing and, as they say, the rest is history! Eventually they both quit their day jobs after Vincent taught himself how to cast metal with a focus on components for jewelry-makers, and Inviciti (which had a different name back then) was born. Nooma, feeling the call of clay again, gravitated away from making finished jewelry and turned her energy toward making prototypes out of clay to be cast into pewter for Inviciti. Vincent was very inventive in coming up with his own unique ways to make prototypes from wood and other materials.
Having a background in marketing came in handy for Vincent in getting their work out there and growing Inviciti’s social media prescence. He’s very fond of engaging with customers and has a knack for keeping up with shop messages and social media interactions. Nooma, having experience in product photography, takes care of that side of things: photos, website design and creating marketing materials, as well as all packaging and shipping of orders. Vincent does all the metal finishing, in addition to casting. They could use a few more hands on deck, but being that Inviciti is run from home, it makes it difficult to hire help. Suffice to say, Inviciti keeps them both very busy!
“We’re happy you found us and are interested enough to read our About Page! We are accessible and love talking about our work and all things creative, so please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime.“
Mission Statement
With the takeover of our planet by large, faceless and seemingly uncaring corporations, we believe small businesses are very important to the future of our world, especially to those who still care about not only quality, but also the intention behind the products they buy. In our personal experience, we feel a certain magic and connection to wares that are either made by or conceived of by people that we can actually meet, speak to, or learn a little something about, even if we can only ‘meet’ them virtually.
A product that isn’t made solely for profit, but because the people behind it find a higher meaning in the work they do and enjoy the process of creating and sharing it with others in the hope that it’ll bring with it the same positive energy that can benefit others in a more meaningful way than can mass-produced, cheaply made goods—which hold no inherent value—that the world is currently drowning in. The intention behind work that has true meaning can impart creative and uplifting energy to those who appreciate and bring the work into their lives. Careful observers of life will understand this is very real and can be felt as such.
We hope you find something you can connect with in our work and in knowing a little something about the two people behind the work.
Sincerely,
Vincent & Nooma (Inviciti)
We design all the pieces you see on this website, unless otherwise stated in a product description. Our raw pewter is made liquid and then poured into molds to become what you see. Once in a while we offer ‘handpainted by us’ brass or copper pieces that were made by someone else.
Original Designs Made from Scratch
A Bit About Our Design Process
We create what’s called a ‘master’ piece, usually from sculptable materials like metal clay or stoneware clay. Vincent likes to experiment using wood or metal materials as his master. Nooma is partial to clay, and fires her master pieces in a kiln. Once we have a good number of new designs or master pieces, Vincent uses a machine called a vulcanizer to create the mold of our latest creations. He then uses a process called spincasting to cast pewter into the mold, and finally, cleans up the pieces by clipping and filing, so they can get ‘blackened’ with an oxidizer and go into a tumbler.
